Awards and Categories

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top finishers (1-3 deep depending on # per age group) in each male and female category, as well as in each team category, except Master which are first-place only. The top-three overall male and female finishers will receive separate awards, plus gift certificates from Lewis & Clark Outfitters.

Categories/Divisions

Overall (M&F)
Juniors (M&F): 10-15 and 16-19
Adults (M&F): 5-yr increments per USAT rules
Master 40+ (M&F): 1st-place only
Senior Master 50+ (M&F): 1st-place only
Grand Master 60+ (M&F): 1st-place only
Clydesdale (200 lb. +): 39 and under; 40 +
Athena (150 lb. +): all ages
Teams: Men, Women and Mixed (teams may consist of 2 or 3 racers).

General Info

Giveaway prizes for bike gear, clothing, energy bars, CASH, gift certificates and lots of other cool stuff!!!

All participants will receive a Shark Sprint Triathlon cotton t-shirt.  A high-tech, wicking fabric t-shirt can be substituted for $TBA for 2009.

The first 250 athletes that registered in 2008 received a Shark Sprint logo coffee mug provided by Fleet Feet Sports of Fayetteville! Stayed tuned for 2009!

We will have hot food after the race for all race participants, plus other tasty treats. Friends and family may eat for a nominal fee.

Core of Engineers Park Regulations:  There is a $4 per car charge to enter the park. Racers will be given a voucher to enter free on race day only.

Directions to Horseshoe Bend Park. Use 16165 E. HWY 94, Rogers AR 72758 for mapping purposes.

Chip timing will be provided.

Horseshoe Bend Park and transition area will be opened up at 5:30 am.

The first heat will start at 7:30am

No more than 100 competitors per wave.

All 2008 USAT rules are in effect.  Event will be held rain or shine.

Wetsuits will be allowed according to USAT rules. Typical water temperature is 84 degrees.

Cutoff times: Swim - 30 minutes; Bike - 1.5 hours; Run - one hour.

All competitors are required to have a current USA Triathlon license or purchase a one day ($10) or annual ($39) USAT license in order to compete.

There is a $4 charge per car to enter the park. Racers will receive a voucher in their race packets for race day entry.

No refunds on registration.

The age group of a participant will be determined by age on December 31, 2009, not by age on race day.

Minimum age to compete is ten years old.

All proceeds go to Northwest Arkansas Aquatics Association, a Section 501c3 (not for profit) corporation.  The Purpose of NWAA is to promote health and well-being through the sport of swimming.
